What is Amazon Ads and How it works

Amazon is the 4th largest company in the world, at the end of June 2021 its market value exceeded one and a half trillion dollars. These are the world's largest publicly traded companies valued at June 2021 prices according to visualcapitalist.com:

Globally, almost 2 million SMEs sell their products through Amazon, and the company is establishing itself as the third highest-income advertising platform in the world, after Google and Facebook. In the USA for example, according to eMarketer, in 2020 Amazon already reached a digital advertising market share of 10%, and it is estimated that it will continue to grow.

Amazon started its activity in Spain in 2011. In 2020, its turnover was €5,400 million, slightly more than half that of El Corte Inglés (€10,400 million). Here is some interesting data:

The study by Dynata for Channel Advisorse in the USA, shows some very interesting facts:

  • 53% of adults when they need a product, they start looking on Amazon.
  • 23% of adults start on Google or Microsoft Bing.
  • 16% start with the website of the brand they are looking for or with the website of a retailer.
  • 8% start with other marketplaces.

Amazon’s main keys to success on advertising campaigns are five: have a smart keyword strategy, both generic terms and direct competitors. Create complete and attractive product sheets, with many images that are useful for the user when making a purchase decision. Have a competitive price, and the maximum of reviews and ratings possible with ratings between 4 and 5 stars; and generate sales by launching the product in the Marketplace as fast as possible.
